Ashley Hinson is an Iowa Republican and former news anchor serving her third House term before announcing a 2026 Senate bid.
Ashley Hinson represents Iowa's 2nd Congressional District, serving since 2021 and holding her third term representing eastern and northeast Iowa including Cedar Rapids, Dubuque, and Decorah. A University of Southern California graduate, Hinson worked a decade as a television news anchor and reporter in Cedar Rapids before serving in the Iowa House of Representatives. She sits on the House Appropriations Committee, focusing on agriculture and biofuels, manufacturing, Mississippi River flood control, broadband expansion, and border security. In September 2025, Hinson announced her candidacy for the 2026 United States Senate race following incumbent Joni Ernst's announcement that she would not seek reelection, creating an open House seat in Iowa's 2nd District.
