Bernard Moreno is the senior U.S. Senator from Ohio, a Republican sworn in January 2025 after defeating three-term Democratic incumbent Sherrod Brown. Born in Bogota, Colombia, Moreno immigrated to the United States as a child and became a naturalized citizen. He built a career in the automobile industry, eventually owning a chain of luxury dealerships in the Cleveland area, and later invested in blockchain-based vehicle title technology. Endorsed by President Donald Trump, Moreno campaigned on immigration enforcement, manufacturing, and opposition to progressive overreach. In the 119th Congress, he serves on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs; Commerce, Science, and Transportation; Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs; and Budget committees, with subcommittee assignments focused on housing, digital assets, maritime issues, manufacturing, and border management. He introduced a resolution honoring fallen Ohio National Guard members and co-sponsored legislation on trade enforcement.
