Betty McCollum is a Democratic U.S. Representative from Minnesota's 4th District and senior appropriator representing St. Paul and the eastern Twin Cities.
Betty McCollum is the U.S. Representative for Minnesota's 4th Congressional District, a Democrat first elected in 2000 and currently serving her thirteenth term. She represents a district covering St. Paul and its eastern and northern suburbs. A College of St. Catherine graduate, McCollum worked as a retail manager and taught social studies before serving on the North St. Paul City Council and in the Minnesota House of Representatives. In the 119th Congress, she serves as a senior member of the House Appropriations Committee, holding the position of ranking member on the Defense Subcommittee and senior member on the Interior-Environment Subcommittee. Her legislative priorities include Indian Country affairs, environmental protection including the Boundary Waters, international development, and global health initiatives.
