Byron Donalds is a Republican U.S. Representative from Florida's 19th District, a conservative rising star and member of the House Freedom Caucus representing Southwest Florida.
Byron Lowell Donalds is the U.S. Representative for Florida's 19th Congressional District, a Republican first elected in 2020 and currently serving his third term representing a Southwest Florida coastal district including Naples, Fort Myers, and Cape Coral. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Donalds graduated from Florida A&M University with a B.S. in finance and marketing, and worked in the finance, insurance, and banking industries before entering politics. He served as a credit professional, advancing to commercial credit manager and assistant vice president before being elected to the Florida House of Representatives for District 80 in 2016, where he chaired the Insurance and Banking Subcommittee. A prominent younger Black Republican, he is a member of the House Financial Services and Oversight and Government Reform committees and the House Freedom Caucus, and was a leading voice on the Select Committee on the Strategic Competition Between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party. Donalds emerged as a prominent conservative advocate against progressive policies and announced his candidacy for Florida governor in 2026.
