Dan Crenshaw is a Republican from Texas's 2nd District, a former Navy SEAL who lost his right eye to an IED in Afghanistan, serving in his fourth term.
Daniel Reed Crenshaw is the U.S. Representative for Texas's 2nd Congressional District, a Republican first elected in 2018 serving his fourth term. A graduate of Tufts University, Crenshaw earned his master's degree from Harvard's Kennedy School of Government. He served as a U.S. Navy SEAL officer with multiple combat deployments, including to Iraq and Afghanistan. In 2012 during his third deployment in Afghanistan's Helmand Province, he was hit by an IED explosion that cost him his right eye, earning him two Bronze Star Medals and the Purple Heart. Medically retired as a Lieutenant Commander in 2016 after a decade in the SEAL Teams, Crenshaw moved to Houston and was elected to Congress in 2018. His district covers northern and western suburbs of Houston including The Woodlands, Kingwood, and Atascocita. He serves on the House Energy and Commerce and Homeland Security committees, focusing on energy, national security, and the U.S.-Mexico border.
