Valadao is the U.S. Representative for California's 22nd Congressional District, a Republican first elected in 2012, defeated in 2018, returned to the House in 2020, and currently serving his sixth term in the 119th Congress representing a heavily Hispanic, agricultural district in the southern San Joaquin Valley. Born in Hanford to Portuguese immigrant parents, Valadao runs his family's dairy operation and served in the California State Assembly before entering Congress. He was one of ten House Republicans to vote for the second impeachment of President Donald Trump in 2021. In the 119th Congress he serves on the House Appropriations Committee with assignments to the Subcommittees on Agriculture, Defense, and Legislative Branch. Valadao focuses on agriculture, dairy, water infrastructure, immigration reform, and healthcare for rural communities.
