Donald John Bacon represents Nebraska's 2nd Congressional District as a Republican first elected in 2016, serving his fifth term. A retired U.S. Air Force brigadier general, Bacon served nearly thirty years in uniform as an intelligence and electronic warfare officer, commanding units including Offutt Air Force Base's 55th Wing and directing Strategic Command operations. He has emphasized bipartisanship and is a member of the Problem Solvers Caucus. Bacon serves on the Armed Services and Agriculture committees, focusing on national security, Offutt Air Force Base and U.S. Strategic Command, agriculture, and the unique electoral system in his Omaha-area district. He announced in June 2025 that he would not seek re-election.
