Dusty Johnson is a Republican U.S. Representative from South Dakota's at-large district, former Public Utilities Commissioner, and governor candidate for 2026.
Dustin Michael Johnson represents South Dakota's at-large congressional district, a Republican first elected in 2018 serving his fourth term representing the entire state. A graduate of the University of South Dakota with a master's from the University of Kansas, Johnson served as chief of staff to Governor Dennis Daugaard and on the South Dakota Public Utilities Commission before his congressional election. In the 119th Congress, he serves on Agriculture and Transportation and Infrastructure committees. He chairs the Agriculture Commodity Markets, Digital Assets, and Rural Development Subcommittee, giving him influence over cryptocurrency, commodities, and rural communities ahead of Farm Bill reauthorization. He also serves on the Select Committee on Strategic Competition with the Chinese Communist Party. Johnson is running for governor of South Dakota in 2026.
