Gary James Palmer is the U.S. representative for Alabama's 6th Congressional District, a Republican elected in 2014 serving his sixth term. A Hackleburg native with an operations management degree from the University of Alabama, Palmer worked as an engineer before co-founding and leading the Alabama Policy Institute, a free-market think tank, for more than two decades. He previously served as chairman of the House Republican Policy Committee, part of GOP leadership, until the 119th Congress began in 2025.
