An Arizona native, Stanton earned a bachelor's from Marquette and a law degree from the University of Michigan, working as an attorney and assistant Arizona attorney general. He served on the Phoenix City Council and as deputy attorney general before being elected Phoenix mayor in 2011, a position he held for two terms, resigning in 2018 to run for Congress. Stanton sits on Transportation and Infrastructure, Judiciary, and the Joint Economic committees.
