Greg Murphy is a Republican U.S. Representative from North Carolina's 3rd District and practicing urologist physician.
Gregory Francis Murphy is the U.S. Representative for North Carolina's 3rd Congressional District, a Republican who won a September 2019 special election to succeed the late Walter B. Jones Jr. and is currently serving his sixth term. A practicing urologist trained at Davidson College and the University of North Carolina School of Medicine, Murphy founded a urology practice in Greenville and served as a clinical professor at East Carolina University's Brody School of Medicine. He served in the North Carolina House of Representatives before his congressional election and is the only practicing surgeon currently serving in Congress. In the 119th Congress, Murphy serves on the House Ways and Means Committee with subcommittee assignments on Health and Trade, the House Veterans' Affairs Committee, and the Committee on House Administration. He co-chairs the House GOP Doctors Caucus. He focuses on healthcare policy, physician workforce issues, military affairs, and coastal concerns.
