Harold Rogers (R-KY-5) is dean of the House serving his 23rd term, a longtime Appropriations Committee leader from eastern Kentucky.
Harold Dallas Rogers is the U.S. Representative for Kentucky's 5th Congressional District, a Republican first elected in 1980 and serving his 23rd term. The longest-serving member of Kentucky's congressional delegation in history and dean of the U.S. House, Rogers is a graduate of the University of Kentucky and its College of Law. He served as a U.S. Army National Guard officer, state prosecutor, and Pulaski County commonwealth's attorney. His Appalachian district covers much of eastern Kentucky coal country and parts of the Cumberland Plateau. In the 119th Congress, he chairs the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice, and Science, maintaining leadership roles he has held for decades. His priorities include Appalachian economic diversification, opioid and drug abuse prevention, and rural infrastructure.
