Hank Johnson is a Democratic U.S. Representative from Georgia's 4th District, a senior member of the House Judiciary Committee representing Atlanta's eastern suburbs.
Henry C. 'Hank' Johnson Jr. is the U.S. Representative for Georgia's 4th Congressional District, a Democrat first elected in 2006 and currently serving his tenth term representing a DeKalb County-centered district in the eastern Atlanta suburbs. A graduate of Clark College (now Clark Atlanta University) with a B.A. in political science and the Thurgood Marshall School of Law at Texas Southern University with a J.D., Johnson practiced criminal defense law for nearly three decades. He served as an associate judge of the DeKalb County magistrate's court for 12 years and was elected to the DeKalb County Commission in 2000, serving from 2001 to 2006 before entering Congress. He is a senior member of the House Judiciary Committee and serves as Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Courts, Intellectual Property, Artificial Intelligence, and the Internet, reflecting an expanded focus on emerging technologies. He also serves on the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and focuses on civil rights, criminal justice reform, and technology policy.
