Biography

Lou Correa is a Democratic U.S. Representative from California's 46th District and former California State Senator representing central Orange County.

J. Luis 'Lou' Correa is the U.S. Representative for California's 46th Congressional District, a Democrat first elected in 2016 and currently serving his fifth term. Born in East Los Angeles and raised in Anaheim, Correa is the son of Mexican immigrants. He earned degrees from California State University, Fullerton, and UCLA Law School and worked as an attorney and investment banker. Before entering Congress, he served in the California State Assembly, as an Orange County supervisor, and in the California State Senate. In the 119th Congress, he serves on the Judiciary Committee and the Homeland Security Committee, where he is a leading voice on immigration policy and border security from the Democratic perspective. His legislative priorities include comprehensive immigration reform, protecting border communities, strengthening veterans services, and supporting small business development. Correa is recognized as a thoughtful legislator on immigration and national security issues with deep roots in his Latino district.
