Jamie Raskin is a 5-term Democratic U.S. Representative from Maryland's 8th District and ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee since the 119th Congress.
Jamin Ben 'Jamie' Raskin has represented Maryland's 8th Congressional District covering parts of Montgomery, Frederick, and Carroll counties since 2016. The son of writer and activist Marcus Raskin, Raskin earned degrees from Harvard College and Harvard Law School and taught constitutional law for over two decades at American University Washington College of Law, establishing himself as a leading legal scholar. He served ten years in the Maryland State Senate before entering Congress. In the House, Raskin served as lead impeachment manager in President Donald Trump's second impeachment trial in 2021, was a prominent member of the House January 6th Select Committee, and was elevated to ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee in the 119th Congress. He remains a leading voice on voting rights protection, constitutional democracy, civil liberties, and rule of law.
