U.S. Representative from OR, District 5

McDonald's franchisee and former state legislator elected in 2024. Serves on House Financial Services Committee.
Janelle S. Bynum won Oregon's 5th District seat in 2024, flipping the competitive Portland-area district from Republican control. A graduate of Florida A&M University and the University of Michigan Ross School of Business, Bynum owns multiple McDonald's franchises in the Portland region and served four terms in the Oregon House of Representatives. She represents a district covering portions of the Portland metropolitan area and central Oregon including Bend. In the 119th Congress, Bynum serves on the House Financial Services Committee with assignments to the Housing and Insurance and Capital Markets subcommittees, bringing her small business perspective to financial sector oversight and working across the aisle on constituent services.
