Jared Huffman is a California Democratic congressman and ranking member of the Natural Resources Committee, representing the North Coast since 2012.
Jared William Huffman represents California's 2nd Congressional District, a sprawling North Coast district spanning from the Golden Gate Bridge to the Oregon border, including Marin, Sonoma, Mendocino, Humboldt, Trinity, and Del Norte counties. First elected to Congress in 2012, Huffman is now serving his seventh term and was elected Ranking Member of the House Committee on Natural Resources for the 119th Congress, a position reflecting his 12 years of service on the committee and previous decade in leadership roles. An Independence, Missouri, native and accomplished collegiate volleyball player, Huffman earned his law degree from Boston College Law School and worked as a water and environmental attorney at the Natural Resources Defense Council. He previously served in the California State Assembly, where he chaired the Water, Parks, and Wildlife Committee. In Congress, Huffman also serves on the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. His legislative agenda emphasizes salmon and fisheries protection, coastal and ocean conservation, climate policy, federal land management, and water infrastructure critical to northern California communities.
