Biography

Jeff Van Drew is a Republican U.S. Representative from New Jersey's 2nd District who switched parties from Democrat in 2019 during impeachment proceedings.

Jefferson H. Van Drew represents New Jersey's 2nd Congressional District, serving his fourth term. A dentist by profession, Van Drew served in the New Jersey General Assembly and State Senate as a Democrat before his 2018 congressional election. He made national headlines in December 2019 when he switched from the Democratic to the Republican Party in opposition to the first impeachment of President Trump and has since become one of Trump's most prominent supporters in the Northeast. Van Drew represents Atlantic City, Cape May, and South Jersey's southern shore and serves on the Ways and Means Committee, focusing on fishing, tourism, casino industry issues, and offshore wind opposition.
