John Moolenaar is a Republican U.S. Representative from Michigan's 2nd District and chairman of the Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party, representing central Michigan since 2014.
John Moolenaar is the U.S. Representative for Michigan's 2nd Congressional District, a Republican first elected in 2014 and currently serving his sixth term. Representing a large central Michigan district including Midland, Mount Pleasant, and Big Rapids, Moolenaar holds a degree from Hope College and earned a master's from Harvard's Kennedy School. Before entering Congress, he worked as a research chemist for Dow Chemical Company, founded a charter school, and served in the Midland City Council and Michigan Legislature. In the 119th Congress, he chairs the House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party and serves on the Appropriations Committee, where he focuses on agriculture, rural development, and food security.
