Katherine Clark is a 7-term Democratic U.S. Representative from Massachusetts's 5th District and House Democratic Whip, the second-ranking House Democrat.
Katherine Marlea Clark has served Massachusetts's 5th Congressional District, encompassing suburbs north and west of Boston, since winning a 2013 special election. A graduate of St. Lawrence University, Cornell Law School, and Harvard's Kennedy School, Clark worked as a state attorney and served in both chambers of the Massachusetts legislature before entering Congress. She has risen through House Democratic leadership to become assistant speaker and is currently House Democratic Whip, holding the second-ranking position in the Democratic Caucus. Clark advocates forcefully for childcare expansion, paid family leave, women's and LGBTQ rights, and gun safety legislation.
