Kathy Castor is a Democratic U.S. Representative from Florida's 14th District, a senior member of the Energy and Commerce Committee focused on climate policy.
Katherine Anne Castor is the U.S. Representative for Florida's 14th Congressional District, a Democrat first elected in 2006 and currently serving her tenth term representing a Tampa-centered district in Hillsborough County. The daughter of a former Florida Board of Education chancellor and the state's former commissioner of education, Castor earned a B.A. from Emory University and a J.D. from Florida State University College of Law. She worked as an environmental and local-government attorney and served on the Hillsborough County Commission before entering Congress. She previously chaired the House Select Committee on the Climate Crisis, which she continues to shape climate and clean energy advocacy. In the 119th Congress, she serves on the Energy and Commerce Committee and the Select Committee on the Strategic Competition Between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party, focusing on clean energy, public health, Medicare, and Cuba policy.
