Mark DeSaulnier is a California Democratic congressman and ranking member of the Ethics Committee from the 10th District.
Mark James DeSaulnier represents California's 10th Congressional District, encompassing eastern Contra Costa County, as a Democrat first elected in 2014 and now serving his sixth term in the 119th Congress. A Lowell, Massachusetts, native and graduate of the College of the Holy Cross, DeSaulnier moved to California and ran a small business in the restaurant industry before being appointed to the Concord City Council, where he later served as mayor. He served on the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors and in the California State Assembly and State Senate before winning his congressional seat. In the 119th Congress, DeSaulnier serves on the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure and the Committee on Education and the Workforce, with subcommittee assignments in Aviation, Highways and Transit, Railroads, Pipelines, and Hazardous Materials. Notably, he serves as ranking member of the House Committee on Ethics. His legislative priorities include transit and BART investment, workplace safety, gun violence prevention, federal consumer protection, and ensuring ethical conduct in the House.
