Maxine Dexter is Oregon's 3rd District representative, elected in 2024 to succeed retiring Earl Blumenauer after nearly three decades. A pulmonary and critical care physician, Dexter trained at the University of Washington and practiced at Kaiser Permanente in Portland before her political career. She brings clinical healthcare expertise to the House, having served in the Oregon House of Representatives. Representing a heavily Democratic district covering most of Portland and Hood River County, Dexter sits on the House Committee on Natural Resources, where she serves as Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations, and the Veterans' Affairs Committee's Disability Assistance and Memorial Affairs subcommittee, focusing on healthcare policy and progressive priorities.
