Michael McCaul is a Republican from Texas's 10th District, a former federal prosecutor and former chair of the House Foreign Affairs Committee serving in his eleventh term.
Michael Thomas McCaul Sr. is the U.S. Representative for Texas's 10th Congressional District, a Republican first elected in 2004 serving his eleventh term. A graduate of Trinity University in San Antonio and St. Mary's University School of Law, McCaul worked as a federal prosecutor in the Department of Justice, serving as Chief of Counterterrorism and National Security for Texas and in the Public Integrity Section. His district stretches from the western Houston suburbs through central Texas to Austin. McCaul chaired the House Foreign Affairs Committee during the 118th Congress from 2023 to 2024, and continues to serve on that committee and on Homeland Security, making him a key foreign policy voice. He focuses on counterterrorism, China policy, Ukraine, and international relations. McCaul is among the wealthiest members of Congress and announced in September 2025 that he would not seek reelection in 2026.
