Michelle Fischbach is a Republican U.S. Representative from Minnesota's 7th District, a former Minnesota lieutenant governor and Senate president representing western Minnesota.
Michelle Fischbach is the U.S. Representative for Minnesota's 7th Congressional District, a Republican first elected in 2020 and currently serving her third term. She represents a large western Minnesota district along the North Dakota border stretching into the state's southwest. A St. Cloud State University graduate with a law degree from William Mitchell College of Law, Fischbach served for more than two decades in the Minnesota State Senate, including as Senate president, and briefly as lieutenant governor when Tina Smith was appointed to the U.S. Senate. She defeated 30-year Democratic incumbent Collin Peterson to win the seat. In the 119th Congress, she serves on the House Ways and Means Committee with assignments to Oversight and Trade subcommittees, and on the House Rules Committee, focusing on agriculture, trade, and rural economic development.
