Nancy Ruth Mace represents South Carolina's 1st Congressional District, a Republican first elected in 2020 serving her third term covering Charleston and the South Carolina Lowcountry. She made history as the first female graduate of The Citadel, South Carolina's military college. A University of Georgia graduate, Mace worked as a journalist, author, and political consultant before serving in the South Carolina House of Representatives. She has been a polarizing figure within the Republican Party, sometimes breaking with leadership on reproductive rights while aligning with hardliners on other issues. In the 119th Congress, she chairs the Oversight Committee's Subcommittee on Cybersecurity, Information Technology, and Government Innovation, and serves on Armed Services (Intelligence and Special Operations, Military Personnel, and Seapower and Projection Forces subcommittees) and Veterans' Affairs.
