Pete Stauber is a Republican U.S. Representative from Minnesota's 8th District, a former professional hockey player and police lieutenant representing the Iron Range.
Peter Stauber is the U.S. Representative for Minnesota's 8th Congressional District, a Republican first elected in 2018 and currently serving his fourth term. He represents a large northeastern Minnesota district covering Duluth, the Iron Range, and the Boundary Waters region. A Lake Superior State University graduate who played college hockey, Stauber briefly played professional hockey in the Detroit Red Wings organization before becoming a Duluth police officer, eventually rising to lieutenant. He served on the St. Louis County Board of Commissioners. In the 119th Congress, he serves on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and the House Natural Resources Committee, where he chairs the Energy and Mineral Resources Subcommittee and serves on the Federal Lands Subcommittee, and focuses on copper-nickel mining, taconite, timber resources, and sportsmen's access to public lands.
