Richard Dean McCormick represents Georgia's 7th Congressional District in the 119th Congress after winning election in 2024 for his second term. A career U.S. Marine Corps helicopter pilot and Navy emergency physician, McCormick served in combat zones including Afghanistan and Iraq during two decades of military service. He earned an M.D. from Morehouse School of Medicine, an M.B.A. from National University, and degrees from Oglethorpe University and Harvard's Kennedy School. Before Congress, he worked as an emergency room physician in the Atlanta metropolitan area. McCormick represents an exurban district north and northeast of Atlanta spanning parts of Forsyth, Cherokee, and Fulton counties. He serves on the House Armed Services, House Oversight, and Science, Space and Technology committees, focusing on national security, veterans' healthcare, and fiscal restraint.
