Richard Lynn Scott, a Republican first elected in 2018 and re-elected in 2024, represents Florida's senior Senate seat. Before entering politics, Scott co-founded and led Columbia/HCA, which became the largest for-profit hospital company in the United States; he departed during a federal Medicare fraud investigation that resulted in a record corporate settlement, though he was not personally charged.
