Robert Aderholt is a senior Alabama Republican appropriator serving since 1997, currently chairing the Labor, Health and Human Services Appropriations Subcommittee.
Robert Brown Aderholt represents Alabama's 4th Congressional District and is among the most senior members of the House, having served continuously since his 1996 election. A Haleyville native, Aderholt earned degrees from Birmingham-Southern College and Cumberland School of Law, worked as a legal adviser to Alabama Governor Fob James and as a Haleyville municipal judge before entering Congress. He is a powerful voice on the House Appropriations Committee, where he chairs the Labor, Health and Human Services and Education Subcommittee, responsible for the largest non-defense segment of the federal budget, and serves on Agriculture and Defense subcommittees. In 2025, Aderholt requested over $56 million in community project funding for north Alabama infrastructure, education, and healthcare initiatives. His legislative agenda emphasizes federal investment in north Alabama, agriculture, international religious freedom, defense industry support, and aerospace research at Redstone Arsenal.
