Roger Marshall is Kansas' junior Republican senator, a physician and obstetrician who leverages his medical background on health and opioid policy.
Roger W. Marshall is the junior U.S. Senator from Kansas, a Republican elected in 2020 to succeed the retiring Pat Roberts. Born in El Dorado, Kansas, Marshall is a graduate of Kansas State University and the University of Kansas School of Medicine, and practiced for more than two decades as an obstetrician-gynecologist in Great Bend. He served as an Army Reserve medical officer. Before his Senate election he served two terms in the U.S. House representing Kansas's 1st Congressional District. In the 119th Congress, Marshall serves on the Agriculture, Finance, Health Education Labor and Pensions, Budget, and Banking committees. He has focused on farm policy, rural health care, border security, and fentanyl enforcement, leveraging his medical background on opioid and public-health issues. Marshall is a vocal advocate for rural America's healthcare needs and has worked to strengthen emergency medical services in remote communities.
