Rosa DeLauro is a Democratic U.S. Representative from Connecticut's 3rd District, ranking member of the House Appropriations Committee and veteran advocate for workers, children, and food safety.
Rosa L. DeLauro is the U.S. Representative for Connecticut's 3rd Congressional District, a Democrat first elected in 1990 serving her eighteenth term representing a New Haven-centered district in south-central Connecticut. Born and raised in New Haven's Wooster Square Italian American neighborhood, she earned degrees from Marymount College and Columbia University and studied at the London School of Economics. Before entering Congress, DeLauro served as chief of staff to Senator Christopher Dodd and as executive director of EMILY's List. For the 119th Congress, House Democrats elected her Ranking Member of the House Appropriations Committee and Ranking Member of the Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education Appropriations Subcommittee. She has championed expanded child tax credits, paid family leave policies, and food-safety regulations, positioning herself as a leading voice for vulnerable families and workers.
