Salud Carbajal is a Democratic U.S. Representative from California's 24th District, a Marine Corps veteran and former county supervisor representing the Central Coast in the 119th Congress.
Salud O. Carbajal is the U.S. Representative for California's 24th Congressional District, a Democrat first elected in 2016 and currently serving his fifth term in the 119th Congress representing a Central Coast district covering Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, and northern Ventura counties. Born in Moroleón, Mexico, and raised in Arizona as the son of farmworkers, Carbajal served eight years in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, including during the Gulf War, and earned degrees from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and the Harvard Kennedy School. He served twelve years on the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors before entering Congress and currently chairs the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy Board of Visitors. In the 119th Congress he sits on the Armed Services, Transportation and Infrastructure, and Agriculture committees, focusing on coastal environmental protection, veterans, and immigration issues.
