Sara Jacobs is a Democratic U.S. Representative from California's 51st District and Ranking Member of the Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Africa.
Sara Jacobs is the U.S. Representative for California's 51st Congressional District, a Democrat first elected in 2020 and currently serving her third term. A graduate of Columbia University and the London School of Economics, Jacobs worked at the U.S. State Department, as a policy advisor at UNICEF, and in the Hillary Clinton campaign. Granddaughter of Qualcomm co-founder Irwin Jacobs, she co-founded a nonprofit focused on job training. In the 119th Congress, she serves on the Armed Services and Foreign Affairs committees, where she is Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Africa. Additionally, she serves as Parliamentarian of the House Democratic Caucus, reflecting her leadership among junior Democrats. At 37 years old, she is among the youngest members serving in House Democratic leadership. Her legislative priorities include advancing global human rights, expanding childcare and family support, protecting reproductive rights, and reforming national security policy. Jacobs is recognized as a rising Democratic leader on foreign policy and democratic values.
