Scott DesJarlais is a Republican U.S. Representative from Tennessee's 4th District, physician, and chair of the House Armed Services Strategic Forces Subcommittee.
Scott E. DesJarlais represents Tennessee's 4th Congressional District, a Republican first elected in 2010 serving his eighth term covering a large rural district including Murfreesboro, Tullahoma, and Cleveland. Born February 21, 1964, in Des Moines, Iowa, DesJarlais graduated from the University of South Dakota School of Medicine and practiced as a physician in Jasper, Tennessee, before his congressional election. In the 119th Congress, he was named chairman of the House Armed Services Strategic Forces Subcommittee. He also serves on Agriculture and Foreign Affairs committees. He swore his oath of office on January 3, 2025. DesJarlais focuses on agriculture, healthcare, and military issues given the Arnold Engineering Development Complex in his district.
