Biography

Sean Casten represents Illinois's 6th District as a Democrat, clean-energy entrepreneur, and prominent climate advocate serving on Financial Services and the Joint Economic Committee.

Sean Casten is the U.S. Representative for Illinois's 6th Congressional District, serving his fourth term since 2019. A Middlebury College graduate and Dartmouth Thayer School of Engineering Ph.D., he worked as a clean-energy entrepreneur and CEO of a firm developing industrial combined heat-and-power systems. He serves on the House Financial Services and Joint Economic committees and is vice chair of the Sustainable Energy and Environment Coalition. Casten has emerged as one of the House's most vocal advocates for aggressive climate action, renewable energy financing, sustainable manufacturing, and evidence-based environmental policy.
