Sharice Davids (D-KS-3) is one of the first Native American women in Congress, representing Kansas City suburbs and serving her fourth term.
Sharice Lynnette Davids is the U.S. Representative for Kansas's 3rd Congressional District, a Democrat first elected in 2018 and serving her fourth term. A member of the Ho-Chunk Nation of Wisconsin, Davids grew up in a single-mother household and attended Johnson County Community College, the University of Missouri-Kansas City, and earned a law degree from Cornell. She worked as a lawyer on tribal economic development, competed as a mixed-martial-arts fighter, and served as a White House Fellow during the Obama administration. She represents a suburban Kansas City-area district in Johnson and Wyandotte counties. In the 119th Congress, she serves on the Transportation and Infrastructure and Agriculture committees, focusing on transit, rural development, and Indian Country economic opportunity.
