Biography

Ted Budd is a Republican North Carolina senator, firearms-business owner and former three-term congressman serving his first Senate term.

Theodore Paul Budd serves as the junior U.S. Senator from North Carolina, a Republican elected in 2022 to succeed retiring Richard Burr. A graduate of Appalachian State and Dallas Theological Seminary, Budd worked in his family's facilities-services business and owned a shooting range and firearms retail store in Winston-Salem before entering politics. He was elected to the U.S. House in 2016 representing North Carolina's 13th District and served three terms, aligning with the conservative House Freedom Caucus. In the 119th Congress, Budd serves on the Armed Services, Commerce Science and Transportation, Small Business and Entrepreneurship, and Joint Economic committees. He has focused on border security, military readiness at North Carolina's large installations like Fort Bragg, and gun rights advocacy, while also supporting legislation related to small business regulation and financial services.
