Trent Kelly is a Republican U.S. Representative from Mississippi's 1st District, U.S. Army brigadier general, and former district attorney.
Trent Kelly is the U.S. Representative for Mississippi's 1st Congressional District, a Republican first elected in a 2015 special election serving his sixth term representing northeast Mississippi including Tupelo, Columbus, and Corinth. A graduate of East Mississippi Community College, the University of Mississippi, and its School of Law, Kelly served as a U.S. Army Reserve and Mississippi Army National Guard officer for over three decades, including deployments to Iraq, and holds the rank of brigadier general. He served as district attorney for Mississippi's 1st District before entering Congress. In the 119th Congress, Kelly serves on the House Armed Services Committee with subcommittees on Intelligence and Special Operations and Seapower and Projection Forces, and the House Agriculture Committee with subcommittees on Forestry and Horticulture and Livestock, Dairy, and Poultry. He also serves on the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, focusing on national defense, military installations, agriculture, and rural development.
