Victoria Kulheiko Spartz is the U.S. Representative for Indiana's 5th Congressional District, serving her third term since 2021. Born in Nosivka, Ukraine, she immigrated to the United States after marriage and became a certified public accountant and businesswoman in the insurance industry. She also operated a family farm and rental business before serving in the Indiana State Senate. As the first Ukrainian-born member of Congress, Spartz has been a distinctive, sometimes contrarian voice on U.S. military and humanitarian aid to Ukraine. For the 119th Congress, she announced she would not serve on committees or participate in the Republican caucus until she sees Republican leadership governing according to her principles, while maintaining her Republican registration.
