Biography

Vince Fong is a Republican U.S. Representative from California's 20th District serving in the 119th Congress, a former state assemblyman and McCarthy aide representing Bakersfield and Kern County.

Vincent Fong is the U.S. Representative for California's 20th Congressional District, a Republican first elected in a May 2024 special election to succeed former Speaker Kevin McCarthy and currently serving his first full term in the 119th Congress representing a Central Valley district centered on Bakersfield and Kern County. Born in Bakersfield, Fong earned degrees from the University of Southern California and Claremont Graduate University and spent years as McCarthy's district director before winning election in 2016 to the California State Assembly, where he served as vice chair of the Assembly Budget Committee and worked on transportation, water, and energy issues. In the 119th Congress he serves on the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, focusing on Central Valley agriculture, oil and gas production, water supply, and public safety.
