Zoe Lofgren is a California Democratic congresswoman from the 18th District, senior Judiciary Committee member and former House Administration Committee chair.
Susan Ellen 'Zoe' Lofgren represents California's 18th Congressional District, a San Jose-based district serving communities in Monterey, San Benito, Santa Clara, and Santa Cruz counties, as a Democrat first elected in 1994 and now serving her sixteenth term in the 119th Congress. A San Mateo native, Lofgren graduated from Stanford and Santa Clara University School of Law and worked as an immigration attorney and staff member for former U.S. Representative Don Edwards, whose seat she eventually won. She served on the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors. In the 119th Congress, Lofgren serves on the House Committee on the Judiciary with subcommittee assignments on Courts, Intellectual Property, Artificial Intelligence, and the Internet, and on Immigration Integrity, Security, and Enforcement. She also serves as the top Democrat on the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology. Previously, Lofgren chaired the House Committee on Administration. Her deep expertise in immigration, election administration, intellectual property, and technology policy reflects decades of service addressing complex issues affecting Silicon Valley and the nation, with particular focus on immigration reform, voting system security, and technology regulation.
