Executive Summary

This bill increases from 5 to 10 years the statutory maximum prison term for making public the restricted personal information about a covered person or their immediate family member.

The term covered person means a federal officer or employee who is engaged in official duties, a juror or witness in a federal proceeding, an informant or witness in a federal criminal investigation or prosecution, or a state or local officer or employee who is assisting in a federal criminal investigation.
