Executive Summary

This bill requires the Social Security Administration (SSA) to mail paper copies of Social Security statements to each individual with a Social Security number at particular times and intervals.

The SSA must mail the statements whenever an individual enters the workforce or starts a new job.

In addition, the SSA must mail the statements periodically throughout an individual's life. From age 25 to 54, the SSA must mail the statements at least once every five years. From age 55 to 59, the SSA must mail the statements at least once every two years. After age 60, the SSA must mail the statements annually.

An individual may opt out of receiving the paper statements.
