This resolution states that the Senate stands with the Tibetan people and the Dalai Lama in their defense of their freedom and national identity.

The resolution also (1) condemns the Chinese Communist Party for its repression of the Tibetan people; (2) calls on the President to ensure that the voice, vote, and diplomatic capital of the United States are used to counter China's repression; and (3) calls on the Department of State to designate a non-concurrent appointment to the position of Special Coordinator for Tibetan Issues.
