Alan T. Shao II Fentanyl Public Health Emergency and Overdose Prevention Act

This bill suspends the admission of certain individuals into the United States.

Specifically, this bill suspends the admission of any person who (1) is attempting to unlawfully enter the United States from Canada or Mexico, (2) does not possess the required travel documents, and (3) is being held at a point of entry or a Border Patrol station to facilitate immigration processing.

(Under current law, individuals who arrive without the required travel documents have the opportunity to seek asylum, with some exceptions.)
