Guide
Limits, allowance and credit
A monthly allowance, prepaid credit past it, and a per-minute limit.
Monthly allowance
Each plan includes a number of requests a month. Most calls count as one request; search counts as ten, because it embeds your question and reads the meaning index.
Past the allowance, each request is paid from a prepaid credit balance at the price your plan lists. Top up on your account page, and turn on auto-reload to have the balance refill itself when it runs low. A request that finds nothing, fails or is refused is never charged.
Response headers
Every successful response says where you stand:
| RateLimit-Limit | Requests allowed per minute on your account, across all its keys. |
| RateLimit-Remaining | Requests left this minute. |
| RateLimit-Reset | Seconds until the minute resets. |
| X-Lobby-Allowance-Remaining | Requests left in this month’s allowance. |
| X-Lobby-Credit-Balance | Your credit balance, on requests paid from credit. |
Rate limit
The limit is per account: every key on the account shares it. A search counts as 10 requests against it, as it does against the allowance.
Over the per-minute limit you get a 429 with Retry-After. Back off for that many seconds and try again.
